"Wonders of Mexico"

DAY 1: ITALY/MEXICO CITY

Departure with scheduled Iberia flights via Madrid. Arrival in Mexico City and transfer from the airport to the hotel. Overnight. (Arrival transfer to be added to the fee, based on the number of pax on the same flight arriving in Mexico city, see transfer table.)

DAY 2: MEXICO CITY

Breakfast. Morning visit of the city, founded by the Aztecs around 1325 and located in2240 metersabove sea level: panoramic visit of the colonial buildings in the Plaza de la Constitucion, also called the Zocalo, including the National Palace and the Cathedral; the morning ends with a panoramic visit of the Aztec vestiges of the Templo Mayor. Departure for the Teotihuacan site; along the way, stop for a visit to the Basilica of Guadalupe, the most revered shrine in the country and in the entire American continent. Arrival in Teotihuacan: when the Spaniards arrived, they found a city abandoned for 750 years, a mystery not yet solved by archaeologists: in the "place where men become gods" one can admire grandiose monuments such as the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon, numerous and splendid temples and palaces spread over a very large area. Second breakfast. Return to Mexico City. Overnight.

DAY 3: MEXICO CITY/TULA/S. MIGUEL ALLENDE

Breakfast. Departure for the TULA site, visit and continuing to Queretaro and visit of the city, rich in numerous testimonies and buildings from the period of independence, grouped around the Plaza Principal: the Casa de la Corregidora, the church of S. Francisco, the house of the Counts of Ecala etc. Second breakfast. In the afternoon we continue to the town of S. Miguel Allende, another pearl of the colonial period, characterized by cobbled streets, low buildings and dominated by the neo-Gothic church of S. Miguel. Overnight.

DAY 4: MEXICO CITY/TULA/S. MIGUEL ALLENDE

Breakfast and morning dedicated to visiting the city of San Miguel de Allende which was declared in 2013 «best city in the world» by a famous travel magazine. Its geographical location (the climate is fantastic all year round) and the beauty of its buildings are certainly not extraneous to this nomination. We will visit the main places of interest such as the Santa Cruz del Chorro Chapel, the San Miguel de Allende Historical Museum and the Parish of the Church of San Miguel Archangel, After breakfast. Free afternoon to relax or further walk in autonomy and freedom to discover fascinating places that will make you experience unique emotions. Overnight.

DAY 5: S. MIGUEL ALLENDE/ATOTONILCO/GUANAJUATO

Breakfast. In the morning departure for Guanajuato, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Stop along the way at the characteristic Sanctuary of Atotonilco. Arrival in Guanajuato: we start with a panoramic visit from the Pipila monument; continue to the city center to see the fortress of Alhondiga de Granaditas. Second breakfast. We continue with the Juarez Theater, the Basilica of the Virgin, the Temple of the Company, Overnight.

DAY 6: GUANAJUATO/MEXICO CITY

Breakfast. In the morning we continue with the visit of the University and the picturesque and narrow colonial streets and the famous Callejon del Beso (alley of the kiss). Second breakfast. Departure towards Mexico City. Overnight.

DAY 7: MEXICO CITY/MERIDA/UXMAL

Breakfast. In the morning transfer to the airport and flight to Merida. Arrival and continuation by bus to the famous site of Uxmal: with Palenque and Chichen Itza it represents the apogee of the Mayan civilization; the complex, founded and completed between 600 and 950 AD, is full of temples, pyramids and splendid palaces, the latter with facades decorated with wonderful stucco friezes. Second breakfast. In the afternoon return to Merida and short orientation tour of this city with a particular charm, characterized by its low houses, churches and colonial buildings erected around the "zocalo". Overnight.

8th DAY: MERIDA/IZAMAL/CHICHEN/VALLADOLID CANCUN

Breakfast. In the morning departure for Izamal: here the Spaniards built the grandiose convent of S. Antonio on top of the ruins of a Mayan time. We continue to Chichen Itza, the largest Mayan city in the Yucatan and declared a world cultural heritage by Unesco. In the afternoon visit of the site, founded around 400 AD which was occupied by the Toltecs around the year 1000 and then abandoned around 1250: numerous buildings bear witness to the splendor of Chichen, including the great pyramid called "El Castillo", the dei Jaguars, the Observatory etc. Second breakfast. In the afternoon continuation to Cancun with a short stop at the characteristic "Pueblo Magico" of Valladolid and continuation to Cancun, on the Caribbean Sea. Arrival and accommodation at the hotel. Overnight.
